Film director
1930–2019

Georgiy Daneliya (1930–2019) was one of the best-loved directors of Soviet cinema, a Tbilisian who joined Georgian warmth and gentle, melancholy humour with the Russian comic tradition.
His films (“Walking the Streets of Moscow”, “Don't Grieve!”, “Mimino”, “Autumn Marathon”, “Kin-dza-dza!”) became classics; behind Daneliya's sad comedy there is always tenderness for the human being. People's Artist of the USSR.
