A golf resort in Kakheti

The Ambassadori resort in the village of Kachreti began with wine. On its site, among the vineyards, stood the Keburia family winery, which made red and white wines for export, and foreign winemakers and businesspeople who came for tastings often stayed the night in a guest house of only ten rooms. The guests kept coming, rooms were added one after another, and in time new buildings went up.

Today it is a resort of 182 rooms in two buildings: 76 rooms in the old, historic part and 106 in the new building. There are outdoor and indoor pools, an Olympic pool among them, tennis courts and sports grounds, a shooting range, horse riding, bowling and an art gallery, as well as a spa and a wine cellar. It is the nearest resort to the capital on the eastern side, about eighty kilometres from Tbilisi.

Even that was not enough for the owner, and he invested in something Georgia had never had: he bought twenty five hectares of neighbouring land and built a professional golf course. So Kachreti got the country's first golf club of international standard, with a nine-hole course, an eighteen-hole mini golf course and coaches, and now diplomats come here and international tournaments are held.
